Out of the box, it becomes very clear very quickly that this thing just oozes cool. It looks like it came straight out of a military armory, and it feels the same way. Well, almost. The gun is made out of a very durable ABS plastic, so it’s lighter than its real-world counterpart, the SG 552. This is to be expected, of course.
The grip feels strong and sufficiently, well, grippy, the plastic feels smooth and well put together, and it feels heavy in all the right places.
Included with the rifle is a scope, a magazine that holds about 30 BBs, a silencer, some BBs to get you started, flashlight, a speed-loader, and a charger for the battery. The scope is a simple red-dot sight that works pretty well and feels durable. The silencer is mostly for looks–it doesn’t affect performance at all, but only slightly quiets the sound. The flashlight is mounted on the rails below the barrel and works very well.
No complaints about any of the accessories. In fact, the number of accessories makes the BT-M82 basically a kit, since you’ll have virtually everything you need to get started.
This gun fires loud. This is exactly what you want in a replica airsoft machine gun, because no one wants a wimpy-sounding rifle. The BT-M82 is powered by a NiCad battery, so this thing’s got some power. Needless to say, it’s a very satisfying gun to shoot .
FPS is about 200, which is decent. It may not be the fastest velocity, but it makes up for it with a high 350-400 round rate of fire. You’ll empty the magazine before you get that that number, of course, but the point is: it’s fast.
Accuracy is also decent, but this is only really true if you’re using a heavier BB, like a .20g. Anything lighter seems to be fairly inaccurate, but you do get some better distance with a .12g pellet.
The BT-M82 has a selector switch for going from fully-automatic to semi-auto, and it works exactly as you’d expect. The folding stock is also nice, in terms of portability, but doesn’t really help much in the field. This is a close-to-medium-range gun, pure and simple.
The BT-M82 is a quality offering for the novice to intermediate user. It works very well, is made of quality, durable materials, and has a satisfying, premium feel. Experienced users may not like its fairly unimpressive velocity, but other than that, this is a fantastic gun.
If you want a rifle that puts out as many pellets as possible while also looking and handling like a real automatic machine gun, the BBTac BT-M82 is a fantastic airsoft gun.
