What is Airsoft?
Airsoft is a game in which two teams are competing to eliminate each other. Players use replica firearms (called airsoft guns) to shoot plastic BB’s at their opponents. The game of airsoft is commonly compared to paintball. When you get shot, you raise your hand to indicate you’ve been shot.
However, there are quite a few differences between paintball and airsoft. Airsoft BB’s do not leave marks on the target, and instead relies on an “honor system” of gameplay. Regardless if anyone saw you get hit or not, it is your duty to call yourself out if you were hit. It’s only fair, as you’d expect an opponent you shot to do the same. Airsoft bb’s bounce off of you, where paint splatters. Most airsoft guns are magzine or clip fed instead of a hopper. The best airsoft guns can be spring-loaded, electric, or powered by gas.
Airsoft is also a less expensive than paintball. Spring-loaded pistol’s start around $10, and the ammo is just as cheap. A 2,000ct ammo container will run you between $3-10, depending on brand, density, and features. Some are even glow in the dark!
Airsoft can be played in a number of different ways:
